Whitehouse, TX (KLTV) - It began as a mission to support our troops, who became an inspirational movement.
Group of White House high school students are now sporting Combat Boots. It is part of a national campaign to boot. It is no longer recognized because the school is complete.
Nearly 200 seniors Whitehouse pledged to go to one of the shoes of the soldiers. Trip to Friday Boot campaign ceremony to pay tribute to our armed forces and veterans, began with a book called Lone Survivor Kate Mohr and curiosity.
"What would happen for us to get your kind of shoes to walk a mile in their shoes? Well, now we get the boots and just experience what they experienced," said Mohr.
"We want to realize that we know that every time I see these boots, there is someone who fought so I could move freely," said Teresa Hughes, a professor at the White House.
Andy Burnett knows something about the price of freedom. He served as doctor for the military platoon. During his service he was wounded. He is now paralyzed from the chest down.keen kids sandals
"I am absolutely honored to have hurt so I did," he said. "You know to give talks on their lives, but do not really think you know what there is between life and a healthy body."
Burnett says he was surprised by the number of students proudly put on their boots.
"Now, when you wear the boots around, people are going to ask them because you know you are with the boots, and you can tell them," said Burnett. "So, it only raises awareness and a lot of good can come out."
He challenges people to remember the men and women fighting for our freedom to walk in their shoes.
